7 Ways to Stimulate Hair Growth for Men

A lot of men experience problems with hair loss. The newly developed technologies offer an answer to this problem. Living a healthy lifestyle encourages hair development and keeps them in good condition. Regular scalp massages and the use of shampoos with minoxidil and ketoconazole in them can also be beneficial. If you see that none of these techniques are effective, you could think about getting hair transplantation procedures. They will quickly provide you with the desired effect and leave you with appearances that are natural-looking. Before you make this decision, you may get all the information you need by consulting an expert. We will go through seven methods to encourage male hair growth.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to promote hair growth in men.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

With platelet-rich plasma (PRP), the patient’s blood is used to encourage new hair growth by injecting the blood into the scalp. The technique serves two purposes promoting hair growth and preventing future hair loss. The process involves injecting the patient’s hair follicles with blood that has a very high proportion of plasma.

Blood that is high in platelets is collected from the patient, plasma is separated using a centrifuge, and then the injection is placed into the different target areas around the scalp. The majority of our patients experience little to no discomfort as a result of the specific microneedle’s extraordinary thinness. The good thing is that since the patient’s blood is used, there is no chance of rejection or complications that can make the procedure risky.

PRP therapy also has the benefit of not requiring surgery and having a quick recovery time. This indicates that you can resume your regular activities fairly soon. Excellent outcomes from this technique will appear invisible since they will mix in with your natural hair. If necessary, it can occasionally be used with other hair-loss therapies. Because it takes time to reach the result, people should be patient. While some of the benefits may start to become apparent right away, they will be seen better after six months post-procedure.

PRP therapy process

There are three steps to PRP treatment. Three treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, are typical for PRP therapy. Every 4-6 months, maintenance treatments are necessary for you to maintain the results.

Step 1

Your blood is put in a centrifuge machine to separate the plasma from the blood. The blood is usually taken from your arm.

Step 2

Your blood will have divided into three layers after a little over 10 minutes in the centrifuge:

  • red blood cells
  • platelet-poor plasma
  • platelet-rich plasma

Step 3

A syringe is used to pull up the platelet-rich plasma, which is later injected into the scalp’s balding spots. There is enough data to demonstrate the efficacy of PRP as a hair growth treatment so if you are having this issue this might be a possibility.

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) transplant for correcting hair loss in men.

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation)

A thin tissue from the back of your scalp is taken out by the doctor during the Follicular Unit Transplant procedure. Individual follicular units are extracted from the strip using a stereo-microscopic instrument. Later, the hair follicles are removed, leaving the scalp with a thin, nearly undetectable line.

ADVANTAGES OF FUT HAIR TRANSPLANTS

  • Short and Easy Recovery Time. The recovery process after a FUT procedure is usually really short and manageable. You will feel some kind of discomfort but it will go away in 10-12 days. The doctor will prescribe painkiller medicine if the patient experiences swelling in the strip area where the hair was removed.
  • Increased Follicle Survival Rate. The mid-donor zone, where the majority of the hair is permanent, is where hair is extracted during FUT. Patients with less hair in the donor region are frequently advised to undergo FUT surgery because it skillfully harvests follicles while leaving the protective tissue intact, resulting in grafts that are strong and of greater quality.
  • Results That Look Natural. You will have a very small, linear scar following the treatment that is no larger than 1mm in diameter. Because of how easily the surrounding hair may be used to disguise it, it is essentially unnoticeable. A patient’s hair is transplanted in tiny, naturally occurring clusters of 1–4 hairs during a FUT hair transplant. This enables you to have thicker, more natural-looking hair without drawing attention to your hair transplant.
  • No additional scarring, no matter how many sessions. No matter how many surgeries a patient has, there is just one scar that remains. The FUE treatment, in contrast, creates a tiny, circular scar behind each extracted follicular unit and it is undetectable.

SUITABLE CANDIDATES FOR FUT TRANSPLANT

FUT is advised when a patient’s main objective is to acquire the most fullness through hair restoration. FUT may offer better coverage and fullness than FUE for individuals who have substantial balding in the crown region of the head where men usually see the problem at first.

Hair restoration with a FUE hair transplant in Albania.

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)

Individual hair follicles are removed from your skin during a follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant and then implanted in different locations on your body to make the new hair appear thicker and blend normally with the rest of the hair.

The traditional follicular unit transplantation (FUT) technique has been substituted in recent years by FUE. A whole section of the scalp or skin, complete with follicles, was transplanted using the FUT technique to the desired region. Because FUE just involves moving the hair follicles, it’s less likely to produce a “hair plug” look, when patches of skin or hair don’t match the surrounding areas. With this new technique, the scars are less obvious than with the previous one.

A person with balding or thinning hair who still has sufficient adjacent hair to use for a transplant is the ideal candidate for an FUE hair transplant. If you don’t have enough strong, healthy hair to transplant to the balding or thinning region, you might not be considered a suitable candidate for a FUE hair transplant, but there are different kinds of treatment available for you.

Scalp Reduction

Another type of technique called scalp reduction surgery is used to address hair loss, particularly top-hair baldness, in both men and women. It entails repositioning the hair-covered skin on your head to hide bald spots. For instance, skin from the sides of your head may be pulled up and sewn together if the top of your head is bald. You should be aware that while it typically succeeds, it isn’t always effective. Consult a doctor to learn all there is to know about this treatment so you can be sure you have a realistic understanding of whether the operation will give you the results you want.

You do not need to spend the night in the hospital for this hair transplant treatment, unlike other hair transplant surgeries. There are usually no complications so you will be able to go home as soon as you finish and feel comfortable. It is advised to have someone by your side to take care of you and drive as you will not be able to do it by yourself.

General anesthesia will be given before the surgery so you won’t feel anything during the procedure. Before surgery, you’ll be given general anesthesia. The bald area of your scalp will first be surgically removed by the surgeon. The skin over the portions of your body where you have hair will then be loosened and pulled up to conceal the excised bald spot. To hold these flaps in place, they will be sewn together.

Scalp expansion treatment for preventing hair loss.

Scalp Expansion

In some circumstances, the surgical technique known as scalp expansion might be performed to address hair loss. It entails inserting a tissue expander, which resembles a balloon, under the scalp. Saline solution is progressively poured into the expander over time, expanding the scalp and generating new skin cells.

After that, the enlarged scalp can be utilized to conceal bald spots or to be ready for future hair transplantation. For people who have more extensive balding or who might not have enough donor hair for conventional hair transplantation techniques, this approach can help them achieve the desired results.

Scalp enlargement, however, is a complicated process that needs considerable consideration and preparation. Typically, it is carried out by experienced surgeons with expertise in hair restoration. If you want to know if scalp expansion is a good option for your unique condition and goals, speak with a certified doctor. They may talk about the procedure’s potential risks and restrictions and offer specific recommendations for your case.

Healthy diet for preventing hair loss.

Eat a healthy, balanced diet

Your hair will remain healthy, strong, and shiny if you eat well. You can prevent hair loss by regulating what you eat. Your hair may suffer if you don’t get enough of a few essential nutrients. Your skin, hair, and nails all benefit from essential fatty acids, particularly omega-3s. You have to regularly consume some omega-3-rich foods like salmon, tuna, flaxseeds, chia seeds, walnuts, tofu, vegetables, and fruits.

Your hair also needs folic acid, vitamins B6, and B12. Vegans and vegetarians generally don’t consume enough of them. Bananas, potatoes, and spinach are examples of foods high in B6 vitamins. Meat, fish, seafood, poultry, and dairy products are significant sources of B12. Numerous fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly tomatoes and citrus fruits, are good sources of folic acid. It is also present in whole-grain especially products like beans and lentils.

Getting enough protein is important for maintaining good hair, but many individuals don’t consume the right amount. Fish and chicken, eggs, egg yolks, and soy products are all healthy sources of lean meat. Consume one serving each day. It’s an excellent idea to take a daily multivitamin because minerals like iron, magnesium, zinc, and biotin have an impact on hair as well. Even though consuming the right foods helps with hair health, it cannot bring back hair that is lost. Genetic factors can play a crucial role in this issue. Other types of illnesses that some people might have like diabetes, cancer, etc can be a reason why hair is lost and a healthy diet will not bring it back.

Medication for hair loss in men.

Medication and Drugs

If you want to try different methods before going to hair transplantation procedures you could try to use medications or drugs that help with hair growth. Minoxidil (Rogaine) and Finasteride (Propecia) are both approved medications and sometimes you cannot get them without a prescription.

Minoxidil (Rogaine)

Clinical trials have demonstrated that Rogaine does work significantly. However, this only works for specific forms of baldness and it should be taken constantly. However, it won’t be effective for everyone. Rogaine probably won’t help you regain all the lost hair if you do benefit from it. In 4 months, Rogaine could start giving results.

However, for some users, it will take up to 8 months of consistent use to experience the full effects of this medication. Rogaine is expected to start working within 2 weeks, but it may take up to 4 months to see hair regrowth and to notice its full effects. You can also notice a brief increase in hair loss during this time frame but you don’t have to worry about it as it is a normal process.

Finasteride (Propecia)

This drug is used to treat androgenetic alopecia or male pattern baldness, which is usually in the crown and center of the scalp. Only mature men are allowed to use it. This medicine works by lowering the levels of DHT, a hormone produced naturally by the body. Faster hair regrowth and slower hair loss result from lowering DHT levels in men making the medicine effective. Finasteride has no impact on the development of hair in other body areas only in the head. This drug should not be used by women or children, just men.
